The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that care during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period should be provided by midwives. Studies have shown that well-nourished, low-risk women seeking high quality prenatal care can safely give birth outside the traditional hospital setting. Midwives attend seventy percent of all births in the five nations with the lowest rates of infant mortality and technical intervention.
As midwives, we are specifically trained in the art of keeping pregnancy and birth natural and normal. By helping you learn to stay well, you are less likely to develop complications of pregnancy.
At The Birth Place we are committed to providing women and their families with information, support, and highly personalized care that will empower them to give birth to their babies naturally, with peace and integrity in our homelike environment. You see the same midwives throughout your prenatal care, labor, birth of your baby, and postpartum period. There are no strangers.
In addition to the routine prenatal checkups, we spend a considerable amount of time at each visit getting to know you, the whole person. This allows us to address your needs and priorities for pregnancy and birth more specifically. As your attendants we will provide support and encouragement for you to do as your body tells you, such as eat, drink, walk, and relax. It is our belief that every woman has the right to experience the birth she wants. At The Birth Place, your baby never leaves your side. The complete newborn exam and weighing of the baby is done right at the bedside.
There is no better place in the world for a newborn baby than its mother's arms...
