Nuchal Translucency Scan (NT) - A scan that Rules Out Down's Syndrome
Why is NT scan important?
NT Scan is used to help screen for and rule out Down's Syndrome.
If there is a slight chance of the baby having Down's Syndrome, a few diagnostic tests are performed to rule out Down's Syndrome. This is usually done after a series of screening tests are performed and a few factors such as age are taken into account.
During this scan, the Sonologist looks out for a list of conditions and rule out most of the conditions as the vast majority of babies are born healthy.
Visit the Birthplace today and get an NT Scan at 15% off our regular price of Rs. 3,500!
The NT scan is performed between 11-14 weeks of pregnancy and the scan alone picks up about 77% of babies with Down's Syndrome.
For a more accurate result, NT scan is usually combined with a blood test. This blood test measures:
Levels of the free hormone beta-hCG
Levels of the protein PAPP-A
Babies with Down's Syndrome may have high levels of beta-hCG and low levels of PAPP-A.
Note: This offer price is for a single pregnancy scan only. Price will vary for a Twin/Triplet pregnancy.
The PCPNDT Act prohibits the determination of the gender of the fetus. It is illegal and will not be performed at the Birthplace. No form of genetic profiling or advice or consultation will be given based on this scan.
